Kim Gordon re-works her own song from last year with a new, anti-Trump twist for 2025.
Last year, Kim Gordon dropped her kick-ass record, The Collective, which took Playboi Carti-type beats and matched them with her gravely, spoken-word drawl and it was one of the best albums of 2024. The album featured the banging opener "BYE BYE," a song that found Gordon reciting a packing list while blistering industrial beats ricocheted behind her. Today she's released a new version of the song which keeps the same instrumental stems, but changes up the lyrics for a set of words that have been attacked under the Trump administration. As a brutalist form of protest, it still packs the same pulverizing punch as the original of course, but with these laser-focused set of words, it becomes more powerful than ever and serves as a much needed reminder of what is at stake under the current corruption that's running the country.
