01. Daft Punk | "Get Lucky" (ft. Pharrell)

*"Get Lucky" probably isn't my favorite or even most played song of 2013, but it was a clear choice for my number one spot. In 2007, Daft Punk burst back on the scene with their now infamous pyramid show. They weren't backing a new album or a new song, but somehow they ushered in what is now the American EDM phenomenon. This year they returned with Random Access Memories, a stellar disco album made from actual instruments and recorded in the best studios in the world with the best session musicians ever assembled. "We've come too far, to give up who we are". So says Pharrell, but this couldn't be further from what anyone expected from the French masterminds. From hipsters to frat bros, this song was unescapable and it will be impossible to think back on this year without hearing the tickling guitar riff. If this is the song that keeps the planet spinning, well that's fine by me.
