Kamasi Washington has shared a new track called "Sun Kissed Child" from Liberated, an EP in The Undefeated’s Music for the Movement series.
Washington's last studio album was 2018's Heaven and Earth which was accompanied by the EP The Choice. In 2020, he followed with the score to the Michelle Obama documentary, Becoming, for which he received an Emmy nomination. "Sun Kissed Child" is a sprawling Washington jam full of fusion and lyrical jazz. Drum fills are seismic and emphatic throughout while the funked-up electronic components and grooving bass lines keep it feeling fresh, modern, and cool.
