It's really happening! In 2020, Bradford Cox's longtime, era-defining band Deerhunter released their underrated record Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared? and then they went dormant. For over half a decade, many have been waiting and hoping for the band and its leader to make a return. Last month, Cox played his first official solo set in quite some time and he's now popped up on a few festival posters for next year, one of which is with his Deerhunter bandmate Lockett Pundt. Today, he's shared a new song, appropriately called "Octoberland," and it's hitting at quite the perfect time. This is a sparse, haunting song full of eerie, twinkling chimes that hits with a nocturnal sense of mood without any really melody or rhythm. It's supremely spooky, but hopefully means Cox is ready to re-enter the musical landscape.
