Jessie Ware brought her Superbloom tour to Radio City for one of her biggest NYC shows to date.
The latest album from Jessie Ware continues on her sparkling disco journey and as she came to one of New York's most prestigious stages, she took in the moment with awe and made sure to leave her stamp on the landmark venue. As the curtain rose to reveal a stage set up decked out in white, a centerpiece started to rotate to reveal the pop diva and set us on our course for an evening that included unfiltered disco energy that played in to deep fantasies and pleasures. Armed with a live band and a trio of dancers, Ware strutted across the stage with full confidence and a presence that commanded the attention of everyone in the room. On their feet for the entirety of the night (not always a guarantee for Radio City), the crowd shimmied and shook all night, letting their inhibitions fly as the sultry glimmer glistened off the mirrored outfits and sparkles galore. Black and white was the early theme of the night, her black top and feather headpiece over wide, white pants that were splattered with black set the tone as she dropped from "Superbloom" into the shimmering "Pearls," upping the disco energy and bringing the vibes that would run throughout the night. From early on in the night, it was clear that Ware was having an emotional experience playing the venue. She told us how New York had been loyal to her from the beginning of her career (shoutout to anyone who saw her at the Box) and how this was the first time she'd stepped foot into Radio City, a blessing to be able to play the venue on the same occasion. As the night moved on, things started to pump up and the shimmering synths and velvety vocals hit their stride during "Mr Valentine" and "Champagne Kisses" before she took it down a notch for "Remember Where You Are" and an acoustic take on "Don't You Know Who I Am?" That was when things took a turn as a giant white box was rolled out to the stage and the lights changed to a blood red crimson shade as she turned towards a more sensual part of the show. As her dancers revealed leather harnesses, corsets, and whips (including one that doubled as a microphone holder for Ware), things got steamy as she broke in "Sauna" with elements of "Mirage (Don’t Stop)" thrown in for good measure as well. "Hot N Heavy" is when things really escalated and the kink factor went up when one of her dancers emerged in a collar with a leash attached and was soon lead around by the other dance before it all culminated in massive makeout on the far end of the stage. Ware then invited a fan up from the crowd to sit on a saddle for "Ride" as she sauntered around him, stroking his sides while making suggestive faces of pleasure and passion. Things settled a bit from there and when she reappeared for "16 Summers" she was in a colorful flowing gown that radiated in its hues as a disco ball spun overhead. The slinky, sultry vibes remained for the rest of the night as more sparkly tones and fizzy moods permeated the vast theatre. The night came to an end in stunning fashion as she wept tears from her eyes, still in awe of the moment at hand, and hit "Free Yourself," the ultimate let go moment that launched us into our final boogie down grooves of the night before sending us off elated from the pure pleasures that lingered throughout the night.
