You most likely know Liz Harris by her moniker Grouper, the name she's used to record sweeping ambient music that sounds ethereal and almost cult-like in nature. She also has recorded as Nivhek and Raum. Last week, her shoegaze band Helen released their sophomore record, 11 years after their debut. Today, Harris is back with more new music and this time she's using her actual name. The very direct and appropriately named new release is Music For Two Films About Water and it's split in, you guessed it, two parts. The first offering she has shared is the sprawling, nearly 22-minute piece called "Untitled (from Constellation)" and it's an eerie piano track that is hauntingly sparse. It creeps in like a delicate fog, slowly enveloping you with its dissonant fuzz and delicate nature before it evaporates just as smoothly as it first appeared.
Music for Two Films About Water is out November 27.
