Chat Pile - "Deep Blue"

Oklahoma noise makers Chat Pile have announced a new album called Who Loves the Sun and shared the killer lead single "Deep Blue."

The boys of Chat Pile are always up to something. In 2022, they released their epic record God's Country, followed that in 2023 with a soundtrack to the film Tenkiller, dropped another LP in 2024 called Cool World, and teamed-up with Hayden Pedigo for the very different, but very good collaboration In the Earth Again. Now, in 2026, they're giving us yet another full-length and this one is called Who Loves the Sun. Along with announcing the new record, the band shared the crushing lead single, "Deep Blue," and if you're a fan of Chat Pile, you'll be pumped to know this song throughly kicks ass. If you're not a fan of Chat Pile, strap in and give this one a whirl. It's another pounding, brutalist banger that captures their sludgy tendencies as well as their primal, noise rock intensity that makes them one of the best bands of the moment. "Deep Blue" was the first track that band wrote for the new record and according to their bassist Stin, it set the tone for the rest of the album. This tune rules so that's some good news. Frontman Ray B shared the following as well

This record focuses on my grievances with the modern world. AI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, $$$$ hoarding pigs— all that shit fucks up your life and mine. The band is definitely stretching out their abilities on the album, and I too felt inspired to go further— as a huge fan of Boston, I like to think Brad Delp is somewhere up there, smiling down, as I take the layering to new heights, but who can say? We have fun with it.

The bass hits like a punch to the gut and the drums crash like thunder giving the track an ominous roar and clang like Thor's hammer bashing away against steel and concrete.

Who Loves the Sun is out September 4.
