Later this year, noise-country band Wednesday will release their new album Bleeds. While the album features their rising guitarist MJ Lenderman, he will no longer be touring with the band. Following two previous singles, the band roared back today with another barn burner that brings out more of their seething guitar work, blending in their blown-out noise with blissful country twang. It's not a pairing that sounds like it would work well, but Wednesday continue to prove that they're in full control of their style and can do wonders to conjure up something really cool. Singer Karly Hartzman explained "'Pick Up That Knife' is a song that revolves around feelings of helplessness, when every minor inconvenience hurts double 'cause you’re close to giving up. It's also about when our pedal steel player Xandy threw up in the moshpit during the Death Grips set at Primavera Sound in 2023.” Quite the combo and quite the tune.
Bleeds is out September 18.
