The latest contribution to the Adult Swim Singles Program is Dinosaur Jr. and "Hold Unknown" is their first new release since 2016's Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not.
By now the Dinosaur Jr. formula is all but guaranteed. A tease of a melody, a rolling rhythm line, J Mascis' growl, a catchy chorus, and an explosive guitar solo. Still, time and time again, the band seems to reinvent the wheel and churn out something that sounds equally as familiar and as it is innovative. It's a comfort to know that now matter how much time goes on, the band continues to be a relief, or a constant, in a time when music continuously shifts.
