Sleep - "The Morrisist"

Doom metal legends Sleep have announced a new album and shared their second single of the year.

Back in June, Sleep announced that they'd be going on tour in the fall with a new line-up. Joining the band's original lead singer, bassist, and primary songwriter Al Cisneros will be Melvins drummer Dale Crover and Void guitarist Bubba Dupree and now they've announced that those tour dates will be in support of their new album, Hempisheres. When the band returned at the beginning of the summer, they shared the new song "Have Spacesuit Will Travel" along with the new line-up and we now know that song will be the opener for the new album. Today, the band is back with track two and it's another brooding beast called "The Morrisist." When talking about the band's new reincarnation, Cisneros shared: "The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in the quality, and equally awesome is Bubba is also one of the coolest people I've been able to make music with." As expected, this is a sludgy behemoth of a tune that roars with bruising power that proves this new version is just as heavy and brutal as anything that's come before and promises that this will be another massive output from a band that doesn't strike often, but seems to always return primal, ferocious force.

Hempisheres is out September 3.
