Carly Rae Jepsen - "Motivation"

Next month, Carly Rae Jepsen will release her new double-album Day and Night and today she gives us another single from the Night side of the record.

Carly Rae is no stranger to dance floor bangers. She's been gifting them to us throughout her career, but on her upcoming new LP, which she's split into two distinct halves, she is embracing more classic disco than ever before. On her last single, "Don't Leave Me on the Dance Floor," she channeled some of ABBA's best moments and now on "Motivation," she luxuriously brings the mirror ball in for closer inspection as she radiates with a techno-infused beat. The thumping on the floor gives her a sturdy anchor from which she vaults herself into pure euphoria. Jepsen is emotionally charged here and full of life, she's living a wonderful life and she's ready to celebrate that fact. When speaking about the song, she shared:

"Motivation" started when I was back in my hometown in the fall, and the crunch of the leaves under my feet started creating this rhythm. I was thinking about my family and how passionate we all are, how we have such high expectations of each other. "Motivation" became my way of making peace with all of that — it’s our little family anthem that recognizes all the complicated parts, but I hope it can be an anthem for chosen families as well.

Striking piano chords meet the club-ready beats and transforms the track into a shimmering, sparkling pleasure that is full of pure pop bliss.

Day and Night is out September 18.
