Friko - "Something Worth Waiting For"

Friko are set to release their sophomore record this coming Friday, April 24, and today they've shared the final advance single, the record's title track, "Something Worth Waiting For."

The four-piece band known as Friko makes some pretty great, urgent indie rock complete with charged-up choruses and high energy rhythms that make their live show incredibly engaging and entertaining. Following their great debut, the band is back for more on their new LP, Something Worth Waiting For, and on the title track, they prove that the album is living up to its name. Lead singer Niko Kapetan shared:

Referencing lyrics from our first record, "Something Worth Waiting For" became the band's mission statement for our second LP. Later taking on the album name as well, this song pedals, drives, runs, bolts, and barrels forward without ever looking back over its shoulder. Ending with the only big distorted guitar build on the record, just like its title, it never quite reaches that climax. Leaning into the idea that the pace is everlasting, and the destination just seconds away, always.

The track is a total rush and the momentum carries forward with a break-neck pace, occassionally coming up for air before surging back into total chaos. The opening acoustic strums lead the first minute of the tune before bursting into electric frenzy, like stepping from black and white into a world of color, and the possibilities of the band seem endless from that moment forward. The hype feels real for this group and the album does seem to be worth waiting for indeed. Let's rock!

Something Worth Waiting For is out April 24.
