What a year it's been already for Kai Slater. The young guitarist dropped not only an excellent album under the moniker Sharp Pins earlier this year, but his awesome band Lifeguard also released their fantastic debut record. They're both two of the best rock records of the year. In November, Slater will do it again with his sophomore album as Sharp Pins and today he gave us yet another great track. "Queen of Globes and Mirrors" takes the power-pop melodies of the Kinks with some rhythmic inspiration that would surely make Ringo proud and gives it a twang of razor wire melodies. A lo-fi jangle-pop number, it's blown-out with tons of fuzz and mixes that paisley, psychedelic haze of the '60s tunes it's undoubtedly inspired by and throws in buzzing guitar licks to give it a little bit of an edge.
Balloon Balloon Balloon is out November 21.
