In 2023, Vines, the solo project of ambient musician Cassie Weiland (which is not to be confused with Australian garage-rock revivalists The Vines), released Birthday Party. At the time, it was assumed that was the debut record under the name. Now, Cassie Weiland has confirmed that was actually an EP and this upcoming release, I'll be here, is the actual debut album. Along with the announcement, Vines shared the new song "Evicted" which is a slow moving piano number, complete with heavy vocoder vocals, that builds with post-rock crescendos over distilled ambient soundscapes. "‘Evicted’ is the first song with lyrics that I wrote for this record." says Weiland. "It's about going through a transitional period in your life and not knowing where it's going. I'm reflecting on the insecurity and discomfort that can come with healing."
I'll be here is out July 18.
