MUNA - "Dancing on the Wall"

MUNA have announced their first album since 2022 and shared the title track, "Dancing on the Wall."

Since dropping their self-titled record four years ago, MUNA has really jumped in popularity, rising to the upper lines of music festivals and playing the likes of Madison Square Garden, where even though they were the openers for that show, the reception from the crowd could've convinced you they were the headliners. In May, the band will release their new album and today they shared the title track. As far as MUNA songs go, this is pretty much what you'd expect. There are some powerful, deluxe synth sounds and ultra-processed vocals that don't really do much to change things up for the band, but instead doubles down on their refined aesthetic. It's still bombastic, jubilant, and full of life, but it doesn't do much to push things forward or show any new angles from the group, instead they return sounding the same as ever. That's not a complaint, per se. MUNA do what they do quite well and it sounds like we're in store for more of the same from the trio who seem to be pushing the idea of if it's not broke, why fix it? The formula remains the same on this one: their sound isn't broken and they're not looking to fix anything.

Dancing on the Wall is out May 8.
