Foo Fighters - "Your Favorite Toy"

Foo Fighters have announced their twelfth studio album and shared the title track, "Your Favorite Toy."

The Foo Fighters haven't had the best post-COVID experience. They tragically lost their drummer Taylor Hawkins, replaced him with Josh Freese only to fire him abruptly and without notice. Dave Grohl got tangled up in some infidelity matters and for a minute it seemed like the nicest guy in rock and roll may have fallen from grace. Last year, the band played their first shows with new drummer Ilhan Rubin after he left Nine Inch Nails (Freese, ironically replaced him in Trent's group) and now the band has announced their next studio album will be out in April. While new music from Foo Fighters doesn't necessarily hold the same weight as it did years ago, "Your Favorite Toy" is probably the best song they've released in quite some time. Grohl changes up his vocal delivery, but the rest of the band is locked in and they're ready to rip. The song roars along and it feels like the band has perhaps rediscovered the magic that made them one of the last exciting rock bands of the new century. Here's to hoping this is the pendulum swinging things back in their favor.

Your Favorite Toy is out April 12.
