On "Automatic," Spiritual Cramp tap into early aughts Indie Rock guitar licks that would fit in perfectly with the likes of Bloc Party or Franz Ferdinand. There's a scratching sense of Post-Punk that runs throughout this number with sharp, metallic tones take center stage and demand the attention. The angular riffs and choppy beat are in lock-step, crouching in tight and holding on with a tight grip while singer Michael Bingham's vocals stretch out with long drawls. This isn't the same noisy sound you'd expect from these guys following their debut, but this shows immense growth and breadth in their work and sets them up for more, newfound success.
RUDE is out October 24.
