You may have noticed, but in case you have not, hardcore is having a bit of a ~ moment ~. If that immediately puts a bad taste in your mouth, hold on for a second. Hardcore, as a music genre, has evolved over time and your idea of what constitutes hardcore music my not hold the same what in 2025 as it once did even just a few years ago. Militarie Gun are a great example of just how much the genre has matured over time. In 2023, the band released their full-length debut and it included killer tracks like "Do It Faster" and "Very High." Both of those songs are awesome, but they're also a lot poppier than you might expect for hardcore. If you're still unsure, listen to Turnstile's latest epic NEVER ENOUGH. See? Hardcore doesn't always have to be so hard. Ok, now back to Militarie Gun. Today the band has announced their sophomore record and the lead single is another track with hardcore elements, but it rips through to something a bit more digestible. There are still gang vocals and some blast beats, but overall, you could imagine this song playing in places that would typically shy away from aggressive music. This time around the band also graduated to a bigger scale and enlisted Riley MacIntyre to produce it (you know, just some guy who happened to work on Adele's smash 25). The result is a clean sound, but one that still shakes things around and stir up a pit. Ok, back to Turnstile for a moment. At this year's Primavera Sound, a highlight came when someone got in the pit and started to do the choreography to Chappell Roan's "Hot To Go" and if anything, "B A D I D E A" gives us the opportunity to make this a new trend and that alone is worth getting excited about!
God Save the Gun is out October 17.
