Lucy Dacus - "Bus Back to Richmond"

Lucy Dacus just released her new album, Forever is a Feeling, in April, but she's already decided to update the cover art and has shared two new songs.

In 2021, Lucy Dacus was on tour in support of her album Home Video when she played a show at Brooklyn Steel and for the encore, she played a new song. She requested fans put their phones away and not record the song to post online. The song made references to Brooklyn and the Williamsburg Bridge which made it an instant crowd pleaser and it felt like a special moment to hear Dacus debut a brand new tune. When she released her new album Forever is a Feeling earlier this year, I expected the song to make the record, but that wasn't the case. Today, Dacus has shared a studio recording of the song, "Bus Back to Richmond" (backed with another new one called "More than Friends") and it sounds like another one of her bright and bold tunes that makes a stronger first impression (on record) than any number of her last album. While great on its own, it feels like this is a song that the album really could have benefited from and hopefully becomes a bonus track or part of something else coming down the line. It's a vintage Dacus track and it deserves a proper home.
