Vines - "Silver Springs" (ft Helado Negro) [Fleetwood Mac cover]

Vines, not the Australian garage rock band The Vines, has announced a new covers EP due later this spring and shared a take on Fleetwood Mac's "Slver Springs" with help from Helado Negro.

By now, we all know the story of Fleetwood Mac's iconic album Rumors. Written amongst the breakup of the band's star power duo Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, the album has gone on to become a landmark record and one of the best critically acclaimed of all-time. What you may forger is that the song "Silver Springs" isn't actually on Rumors. It was written during the sessions that spawned the album, but that track didn't actually get released until decades later and was made infamous during that live performance where Stevie stared into the soul of Buckingham and eviscerated him on camera. Now, Cassie Weiland, who records under the moniker Vines, has shared a cover of the song that will be included on an upcoming covers EP that is simply titled Covers I. Vines takes on the vocal duties of Nicks and enlisted Helado Negro to capture Buckingham's parts, but aside from the melody, the song takes on a new life that sounds much more like a Vines song than a Fleetwood anthem. It's a hazy, dreamy with ultra-processed vocals that nearly obscure the words beyond recognition, but when a song is as notable as "Silver Springs," the words penetrate the track anyway.

Covers I is out May 15.
