The Messthetics / James Brandon Lewis - "Deface the Currency"

The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis have shared the second single, the title track, from their upcoming album Deface the Currency.

The jazz-punk tag team of The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis are gearing up to drop a new album on us soon and today they’ve hit us with the title track, “Deface the Currency.” A sprawling, squawking, and soloing dream, this is a sharp, punchy tune that has Lewis’ skronking sax dueling with Pirog’s wailing guitar while the rhythm section of Fugazi holds things down with water-tight precision. The song rips with intensity as sheets of sound rain down upon us with a sense of controlled chaos. There's a menacing vibe that runs throughout this one and a real sense of urgency. There's a lot of commotion and things tumble back and forth to an almost dizzying degree, but in its moments, it succeeds on all of its efforts.

Deface the Currency is out February 20.
